Suffolk & Norfolk Wooden Brooms

Handcrafted by Ewen Brown in his Norfolk workshop, these beautifully made brooms combine traditional brush-making techniques with carefully sourced natural materials and a commitment to enduring craftsmanship.

Each broom is fitted with a handle made from sustainably sourced timber from Norfolk and Suffolk. Ewen works closely with local sawmills and arborists, selecting timber from local farmland and storm-fallen trees, ensuring valuable materials remain in use rather than going to waste. The brush fibres are natural plant-based materials sourced from specialist producers around the world, chosen for their durability and suitability for different cleaning tasks.

Rooted in a love of functional design, every broom is created with the belief that everyday objects should be both useful and beautiful. Traditional woodworking methods are combined with contemporary craftsmanship, with each broom shaped, assembled and finished by hand. A leather hanging loop allows the broom to be stored with ease and displayed proudly when not in use.

Across cultures and throughout history, the humble broom has carried significance beyond its practical purpose. Used to clear and cleanse, it has long been associated with rituals of renewal, protection and the sweeping away of unwanted influences. Ewen's brooms honour this rich heritage while remaining hardworking tools for modern homes.

Made slowly and thoughtfully, these are objects designed to last, celebrating quality materials, skilled workmanship and a more considered approach to everyday living.

Fibre Types & Uses

Gumati Fibre
A robust, hard-wearing fibre suited to heavy-duty sweeping and rough surfaces such as concrete floors.

Sherbro Fibre
An excellent outdoor sweeping fibre, valued for its strength and resilience.

Tampico Fibre
Traditionally used for wet cleaning and polishing, offering a softer finish for more delicate tasks.

Palmyra Fibre
A versatile, semi-stiff fibre ideal for household cleaning and general-purpose sweeping.

Grass Fibre
A natural outdoor sweeping fibre, particularly suited to patios, paths and garden areas.

As each broom is handmade from natural materials, variations in wood grain, colour and fibre are to be expected and are part of the character of each individual piece.
