Celebrated ceramicist Chloé Rosetta Bell’s Suffolk Fishermen Collection launches online and in store on Saturday 30th November. The collection consists of tableware and larger statement pieces.

To launch Chloé’s new Suffolk Fishermen Collection, chef Nicola Hordern is hosting an intimate supper in our gallery showroom on Friday 29th November.

The menu focuses on local seafood, along with locally cultivated and foraged fruit and vegetables from land and sea. The aim is to make the most of the wonderful produce and complement the creative process of the artists, highlighting the beauty of the ceramics and glassware.

Chloé Rosetta Bell is a Ceramic Artist. Material-focused and primarily working in clay, her practice examines the livelihoods dependent on a specific landscape.

“My interests revolve around people whose livelihoods depend on a specific landscape. I view their devotion, knowledge, and dependence as a craft honed over years, often passed down through generations. For this supper club and collection, chef Nicola Hordern took me to meet fishermen and traditional smokehouses with whom she has longstanding relationships to source local ingredients. When I meet them, I observed their tools, materials, and surroundings, and considered how all these elements have shaped them.

I used to think that one needed to spend a long time in a landscape to truly capture and reflect it, but over time, I’ve realized that the collections I create in collaboration with others are less about how I respond to their land and more about honoring their materials and tools of trade. I aim to celebrate their craft and create objects that draw attention to their passion.

For several years, Susanna Cook and I have wanted to work together, and the Suffolk Fishermen Collection has provided the perfect opportunity to do so. Together with Nicola, we sourced waste crab shells from local fishermen and ash from traditional smokehouses. This collection uses these materials to create objects that will preserve and celebrate the Suffolk fishermen’s livelihoods”.

To complete the place settings, Chloé is collaborating with glassware designer, Celia Dowson and fellow ceramicist, Lisa Stockham. Chloé is creating additional statement pieces, which will be on display during the evening.

Supper Friday 29th November 7-9.30pm.
Nicola will be pairing each course with wines, fine cider, sake or non-alcoholic drinks of rare teas and shrubs, which she will prepare. The price per person is £95.
