“I have painted consistently throughout my life, supporting myself and my children through my work. Now I’m 70 I still love painting. I put on Radio 3 and start somewhere, then I feel I have arrived. A day when I don’t paint feels incomplete.
I’ve had eight one man shows at Crane Kalmans in London, lots of other one man shows and been in numerous mixed shows. I have made books, prints and done commissions for people. My paintings are usually of Suffolk because that’s where I belong”.
Born in Suffolk in 1955, Tessa Newcomb is the daughter of the artist Mary Newcomb. She attended the Norwich School of Art from 1972 and received a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Bath Academy of Art in 1976.
Portrait of Tessa by her son, Henry Jackson Newcomb.
