Phoebe Stubbs
Phoebe Stubbs is a contemporary glassmaker whose vibrant handblown glassware celebrates colour, craftsmanship and everyday ritual. Working from her London studio, she creates playful, sculptural pieces that are designed to be used and enjoyed, bringing warmth and personality to the table.
Phoebe trained at the Rhode Island School of Design, and her practice traces a direct lineage through some of the most influential studio glassmakers of the last century, a rare inheritance in a craft where knowledge is passed from maker to maker. This deep respect for traditional glassblowing techniques sits alongside a distinctly contemporary approach, with colour forming the foundation of every design rather than simply its decoration.
"I love and deeply respect historical glassware, but bold colour excites me. Bright blue takes me to my childhood spent in warmer climates: sunshine, a soft blue pool liner, fluorescent sunscreen on our noses. Orangey red conjures cartoons and colouring books; a citrus yellow, the joy of melting sweeties."
These memories are reflected throughout her work, where joyful colour, expressive form and exceptional craftsmanship come together in pieces that are as beautiful to use as they are to display.
