The Closing of the Suffolk Fishermen Collection

The Suffolk Fishermen, connected to Suffolk’s fishing and smokehouse traditions, by Chloé Rosetta Bell.

This last collection from Chloé marks the closing of the Suffolk Fishermen Collection. A series of works made using the remaining ash from traditional smokehouses in Suffolk.

The original collection created by Chloé Rosetta Bell for The Merchant’s Table looked at the people, materials and tools connected to Suffolk’s fishing and smokehouse traditions.
Local chef, Nicola Hordern took Chloé along the Suffolk coastline to meet fishermen and fish smokers. Waste crab shells and ash were collected and became materials within the collection, allowing the objects to hold a connection to the people and working landscape that shaped them.

The full closing collection will be launched on the 31st October at The Watch House, Orford, Suffolk.
