When Susanna Cook bought the Merchant’s House in Woodbridge in 2017, she had no idea of the generations of craftsmen and women who had lived there before her. When she had time to do a bit of research, she found that over the centuries, this had been a home for violin makers, frame makers, gun smiths and clock makers.  Building on this tradition she decided to open a shop which celebrates products made only by British craftspeople. The result, her online shop and real-life gallery, the Merchant’s Table, has been trading for almost seven years. The name comes from Susanna’s decades of working with a host  of luminary food clients from La Fromagerie to Sally Clarke. Sitting around a table sharing food and conversation has always been one of her favourite things something she has carried on with The Merchant’s Table.
