In collaboration with The Merchant’s Table, Suffolk potter, Steven James Will, has produced a unique range of porcelain tiles for us, for the presentation of cheese or cakes. The tiles are large enough for a shared cheese selection or an afternoon tea selection of cakes.

Every season is celebrated with a limited edition of tiles, available in large, medium and small. Each tile is pressed with seasonal wild meadow flowers, precious in their detail and the pressing highlighted with indigo pigment. This deep blue and the delicate impressions seem to offer a wonderfully organic compliment to any cheese offering.

Livestock grazing plays a key role in maintaining species-rich habitats. The selection of certain plant species in preference to others by livestock is an important factor determining the structure and floristic composition of the vegetation of various habitats. The flavour and the richness of the milk dairy cows produce is also influenced by the make up of the meadows that the cows graze. This formed the inspiration for these unique pieces from Steven and The Merchant’s Table.

Truly inspired by the natural world around him, Steven often finds items and materials that inform his work while on walks around the countryside. We have been working with Steven on a number of ceramic projects and are delighted to offer these unique collaborations in our shop.

Others in the collection include Winter and Spring.
