Lidded boxes echo the forms of fairground tents, while delicate frosted trees rise from raised, decorated bases.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEach piece is individually made and one of a kind, imagined as a souvenir from a Frost Fair long since disappeared. Delicate slip decoration references the dates of historic fairs, while a soft matt white glaze gives each piece a beautifully frosted finish in a warm, gentle white.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003e\"My new collection ‘Frostiana’ takes its title from an 1814 book, edited by B.A. Thurber, of contemporary accounts of the Thames Frost Fairs. These events took place every 20 years or so from the Elizabethan times up to the early 19\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e Century, during what was known as the ‘Little Ice Age’. Frost fairs were a spectacle of novelty, gaming and dancing, with people gathering on the ice around tent stalls, attractions, food and games. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eI am interested in ideas around ‘the souvenir’ and this collection builds from there – as imaginary souvenirs of past frost fairs. The objects in the collection include lidded boxes, ornate vases, flasks, and frosted trees.
